| As the head of the ROTC Department at Churchill, Major Mikesell created the boosters club in 1986 and named it, "The Commanders Club." Major’s idea was that parents would mirror the same position their cadet had in the Corps. The Corps Commander's Mom and Dad would be the Commander's of the Commander's Club, the XO's Mom and Dad would be the Vice President's or Deputy Commander's. It worked real well for Major and Black Watch. The parents were there for moral and financial support and to help with trips. They were very loyal and a great help to Major Mikesell and the team. It has been seen how many went to National's with the team and it was that way on all of their in-town and out of town trips. At some drill meets, they would have upwards of 100-150 parents and family. At Fiesta Skills Meet, which is hosted in and by Churchill, the parents really help with all the function required to run a major skills meet. We Would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents for all their support. We appreciate all that you have done to support Black Watch. |
