| Every commander of Black Watch was different in some ways. Miguel Martinez was in Major Mikesell’s and many other's opinion the best commander ever. He commanded Black Watch for two years (1997-1999). Black Watch won nationals both years under his command. He was extremely hard, yet so fair and proficient. He expected perfection out of the team more than any other commander and put all of team members first. His leadership was very unique. He took the team’s level of spirit up to a different level, and ensured that everyone strives for nothing but perfection and pride. He influenced others in a positive manner as he effectively worked toward integrating himself as an integral member of a working team. The Black Watch Drill Team had a remarkable run with Miguel being the commander. It was the best season ever, from accomplishments to memories. He is a highly principled young man whose commitment to leadership, erudition and maturity will enhance the edifying understanding of any organization to which he belongs. Miguel is a diligent leader who is capable of magnificently demanding a unit structure. Equally important, his potential for leadership success and dignity is rated as highly successful. Miguel graduated from West Point in May 2003, and is currently stationed in Germany. |
